This week we spoke with Lisa Moo, an Interior Decorator about the top 3 ways to add a little flair to your home when on a budget.
Tip #1: UPDATE WITH PAINT
Adding color or changing your paint color altogether is a fairly easy way to enhance your interior decor. You can experiment with colours and if you don’t immediately get the result(s) you want, you can very easily paint over it. Neutrals are popular nowadays, especially greys. While accent walls aren’t as trendy anymore as they once were, people do still have them, but it all depends on your overall décor. Sherwin Williams has a wide range of colors, their quality is good and the price is affordable.
Tip #2: ADD THROW PILLOWS
Throw pillows are another great way to accent your home. Because the covers are not overly expensive & depending on what style you like, you can have a series of covers that are interchangeable. Today you could have blue and white, tomorrow it could be blue and grey, or add other colours, or fabrics with pattern or texture. You can go to a fabric store and purchase fabric and have covers made for your cushions or you can opt to purchase new throw pillows and add to your collection!
Tip #3: ACCESSORIZE
Decorative accessories are also a great way to give your home a unique look. These can range from candles (that can even match your throw pillows), jars or framed photographs are a great way to personalize your space. Plants are another fabulous way to give your house a fresh look. I like indoor plants like Aloe Vera, or other succulents. Spider plants that hang down from their pot when hung in a corner can be in lieu of a painting as they cover wall space while adding greenery to your living space. Plants also act as air purifiers to help keep the air your family is breathing clean.
